Job Description
Youth Wellness SpecialistJoin our expanding youth programs as our new Youth Wellness Specialist. You will use your knowledge of health & wellness to share your passion with the youth in our programs. You will be working at various sites throughout the YMCA's service area, so you should be experienced in relating to & communicating with diverse populations. Starting salary is $36,327/year. Responsibilities:
  • Utilize skills in physical fitness, wellness, mindfulness & health education to expand youth programming.
  • Preparing for daily activities to ensure that objectives are reached.
  • Maintaining accurate program records.
  • Creating a positive, achievement-oriented, organized, and engaging learning environment.
  • Providing consistent rewards and/or consequences for youth behavior grounded in positive discipline.
  • Empowering youth to make positive choices and serving as a role model.
  • Being accountable for meeting youth instructional needs.
  • Ensuring enrichment goals are met for each participant.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Exercise Science or related field required.
  • One or more years experience in the supervision & coordination of arts programming.
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration required.
  • Experience in personnel supervision, recruitment, training, & development of staff.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social/economic segments.
