About the Position

Wilderness Torah seeks an experienced Youth Programs Director to play the central role in directing the suite of youth programs including B’hootz (K-5), B’naiture (6-8), Shomrim (teens), and at community programs.

General Responsibilities

  • Direct youth programs as a yearly cycle, with an eye towards continuity, family engagement, sustainable growth, and effective resource use
  • Create efficient systems for youth programs planning and tracking
  • Supervise and collaborate closely with the Youth Programs Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with Wilderness Torah staff to:
  • Develop organization-wide vision and plan
  • Create a cohesive vision for Wilderness Torah’s Youth Programs
  • Ensure youth programs are inclusive for diverse participants
  • Execute administrative tasks associated with youth programs as needed
  • Support special projects within the organization as needed
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and retreats
  • Participate in organization-wide efforts, such as strategic planning

Financial Management: Budgeting, Payments, Reimbursements, Fundraising Curriculum Development: Develop Curriculum, Support mentor implementation

Staff Management: Supervise Staff, Hire and Supervise Mentors, Offer Mentor Training, Provide Mentorship and Supervision

Program Implementation: Maintain Policies, Support Marketing & Communication, Information Sessions, Evaluations, Program Site Procurement

Community Relationships & Communications: Build and maintain relationships with families, Oversee written communications

Community Programs: Support festival youth programs, Help create family friendly culture

Experience and Skills Desired:

  • 3+ years experience working as a teacher or mentor; Jewish experience necessary
  • Experience managing and supporting a team of educators and/or staff
  • Experience working outside in wild spaces
  • Experience working with parents and families
  • Ability to speak publicly with confidence and eloquence
  • Self-motivated with ability to lead own projects while collaborating with teams
  • Analytical and detail-oriented; excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills, including Gmail; Google Docs; Word; Excel (to create and maintain an organization’s budgets and finances); Flickr; social media; and online project management tools such as Asana. Experience using Salesforce
  • A passion for earth based Judaism and a demonstrated commitment to our mission
  • Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

Pay and Benefits:

  • Salary $57-$60k, full time, competitive nonprofit salary commensurate with experience
