The Youth Development Specialist position will work within a Boys & Girls Club that serves up to 200 kids per day. This position will work with a variety of elementary age groups facilitating educational activities in our core programs areas of character and leadership, healthy lifestyles and academics as well as working alongside Denver Public School teachers.
The Youth Development Specialist will:
Create lesson plans and lead activities for small groups (5-10 kids), regular groups (20-30 kids) and large groups (40+ kids) in recreation and academic settings.
Develop and implement fun activities and programs.
Programs must encourage active youth leadership and decision-making.
Understand the five (5) elements of positive youth develop: a safe positive environment, fun, supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations, and recognition.
Collaborating with a team of professionals.
This position works within a community school that focuses on youth development, parent engagement, and family support services.
The Specialist is expected to act as a team member, develop positive work relationships, and collaboratively program cross discipline with other staff members.
Additional responsibilities may include: meeting with other club staff, inventory and purchase of teaching materials, upkeep of area, maintaining the budget and participating in ongoing professional development.
This position will primarily work indoors. Accordingly, the ability to use a variety of equipment including janitorial and office equipment is required. The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion. The ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports and properly document program and organizational data. A valid driver's license and ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy is also a requisite.
Requirements:
Pay Range: Starting at $15 per hour, Depending upon experience
Hours : Somewhat flexible schedule M-F. 20-29 hours per week, 1:300pm – 6:30 p.m., Hours will change to the day time during summer programming.

- Candidates must be able to pass a drug test, including marijuana, criminal background check (including national and state sex offender registration verification), and driving records investigation.
- The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25lbs.
- Must be comfortable with indoor and outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required.
- The ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports and properly document program and organizational data.
- Successful completion of Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED courses after hire and maintaining your certification, which is paid for and coordinated by BGCMD
