Job Description

KVC is seeking reliable Youth Care Transporters who want to make a difference to children in foster care. We need individuals to transport clients to and from family visits, doctor’s appointments, court dates, etc. Schedules vary from week to week and may include early morning or late nights depending on the needs of the client. One-way transports may include several hundred miles to a child’s home area then back in the same day. Although KVC serves children in multiple states, most transports will be within the child’s home area and back within the same day. This position does include a company fleet vehicle for business related travel and transports only. Drivers must have valid driver’s license, clear driving record and the ability to document client behaviors including incidents while the child is in your care. Basic to Intermediate computer and typing skills required.
Must be able to work day or extended shift hours including weekends and short notice
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned according to qualification of staff and development of programs.

  • Ensure the timely pick up of children entering foster care.
  • Provide a safe environment for children while in transit.
  • Provide on-time arrival for all transports.
  • Monitor and document child’s behavior and activities while in transit.
  • Ensure confidentiality.
  • Exhibit a high level of courtesy and professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff in the Transportation Department as well as other KVC staff and external clients/customers.
  • Implement and follow all agency and department policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a fully operational, licensed, and insured vehicle.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain/complete all required forms and written reports.
  • Assist in the transfer of information and materials throughout the agency.
  • Attend necessary training hours as required by the Transportation Department.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other department functions.
  • Serve as a mandated reporter of suspected abuse/neglect.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt.
