Job Description
Overview: The Automation Tech III resolves electro-mechanical issues and equipment errors on automated material handling systems and related equipment and perform repair and preventive maintenance. Performs on-site set-up, programming, and customer training. Leads the work of other Automation Technicians.Responsibilities:
  • Uses advanced troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair all equipment problems
  • Performs Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) troubleshooting, debugging, and programming
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Performs on-site set-up, programming, and training
  • Completes detailed reports and other paperwork
  • Follows up on completed work with customers and other departments to ensure resolution
Qualifications:
  • Associates degree from vocational school or college with focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the mechanical/electronics field
  • Ability to install, maintain and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components – photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers. and encoders.
  • Knowledge of PLC programs; ability to troubleshoot ladder logic and modify the PLC program as needed
  • Ability to mentor, lead, and influence other team members
  • Ability to execute assigned tasks
  • Ability to interpret and modify mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures and relate them to others
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office
