About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) organization as a Program Manager. This is a management role at the outset with a small number of direct reports, will report to the Sr. Manager of WorkingWell Technology, and will work closely with cross-functional senior leaders, their teams, and occasionally Directors. You will have a strong delivery record and leadership experience to own, influence, integrate, and execute technical projects. You are able to define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set objectives, analyze data, drive improvements that are quantifiable and measurable, and influence resource allocation. You understand the significant business problems in your program space, automation limitations, systems requirements, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and reasons behind leadership decisions. This Program Manager must be an effective communicator and provide clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing, while also establishing relationships across the WHS, and FC networks to aid in operations implementations. This position will support roll-out of multiple safety and wellness-related technology deployments, including strategic developments that support the health and wellness of our associates and engaging them before and after injury-intervention occurs.

This position will also have a strong focus on finding and identifying technical solutions that exist outside of the company and bringing the right ideas back to Amazon. To work effectively in the role, the candidate would understand the needs and restrictions of key Amazon businesses and operations, and find ways to use technology to serve associates and the strategic business direction of the WHS organization.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant program management, or technology integration experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present in a clear and concise manner to all levels within the enterprise
  • Experienced with MS Excel, working with large and complex datasets.
  • Field experience in manufacturing, warehouse or fulfillment center environments
  • Experience defining technical requirements and working with systems resources
  • Ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope business requirements manage risks appropriately and effectively; ability to manage multiple projects/programs
  • Ability to break down high level business problems into concrete analytical solutions, and update and develop documentation on processes critical to all stages of the deployment
  • Experience working and contributing to project playbooks, building schedules, managing issues/risks, establishing communication plans and stakeholder management
  • Results oriented person with a proven track record of on-time project/program delivery for large, cross-functional projects with global stakeholders

This is an individual contributor role at the outset, with the potential to expand to a team of 2-3, will report to the Sr. Manager of WHS Technology, and will work closely with cross-functional senior leaders, their teams, and occasionally Directors. You are able to define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set objectives, analyze data, drive improvements that are quantifiable and measurable, and influence resource allocation. You understand the significant business problems in your program space, automation limitations, systems requirements, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and reasons behind leadership decisions. This Program Manager must be an effective communicator and provide clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing, while also establishing relationships across the WHS, and FC networks to aid in operations implementations. This position will support roll-out of multiple safety and wellness-related technology deployments, including strategic developments that support the health and wellness of our associates and engaging them before and after injury-intervention occurs.

This position will also drive the continued growth of our WHS Technology programs by developing and building initiatives that require integration across a network of stakeholders. To work effectively in the role, the candidate would be required to develop a deep understanding of the organization’s commitment to serving the associates and the strategic business direction. The successful candidate is also one that has a track record of delivering success in high performing business organizations, and one who has program management experience.

  • MBA or Master’s degree in a related field, such as IT, Engineering, Technology, Business, Safety, Healthcare, etc.
  • Exposure to working with engineers and software developers
  • Familiarity with coding languages, and software (such as Tableau) that manages data and metrics
  • Experience in core project management disciplines with associated industry qualification (PMP, CAPM, CSM, etc.)
  • Experience with project and portfolio management tools such (as Gantt Charts, WorkDocs, Playbook) to deliver against project plans.
  • Experience gathering relevant requirements and developing scorecards and dashboards to surface meaningful KPIs and actionable intelligence to cross functional stakeholders
  • Experience working and contributing to project playbooks, building schedules, managing issues/risks, establishing communication plans and stakeholder management
  • Experience communicating with a variety of stakeholders at various levels of the business and tailoring communication style and needs to fit audience
