Job Description

Job Specialistsprovide employment preparedness support, employability case management, and assist with job search coachingforclients in Workforce Solutions programsat the International Institute. The work of the Job Specialistis to help prepare individuals to identify strengths, overcome barriers, and gain a deeper understandingof working in the United States through support, coaching, and referrals. This is a full-time position, and reports to the Director of Workforce Solutions.

Duties

  • Enroll clients into job placement programs and provide program orientation
  • Prepare client for employment success by creating Employment Planswith the job seekers and identifying clients strengths and barriers to employment, and identify solutions to barriers.
  • Conduct individualized job searches with job-seekersincluding:counseling clients, determining availability, and speaking to clients about potential areas of employment they may be able to enter at this time and in the future
  • Facilitate employment preparation activities such as interview practices, coaching, resume preparation, and employment readinesstrainings
  • Refer job seekers to Job Developers to screen for specific positions with our partner employers
  • Provide regular, consistent connection to clients on caseload
  • Assist in pre-hire process of job application assistance, resume development, driving to interviewor other necessary requirements, as well as post-hire services (such as on-boarding paperwork and providing transportation to drug testing, etc)
  • Complete necessary program and job retention follow-ups with clients and grant reporting, as required
  • Connect job seekers to long-term career planning information and programs
  • Support clients by providing case management to ensure the building of self-sufficiency and employability through service delivery and referrals for other services
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client records and information. Provide detailed daily case notes and documentation in client databases.
  • Engage in other IISTL activities and events, as needed
  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree/relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of hiring process, professional work experience
  • Proficiency using web-based database programs and Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Well organized, detail orientated, and able to self-start
  • Professional and empathetic; able to maintain composure in times of stress
  • Work experience in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment is preferred
  • Must have a car and a valid driver's license with proof of insurance
  • Flexible attitude and strong teamwork ethic
  • Preferred linguistic ability in at least one of the following languages: Swahili,Kinyarwanda, French, Dari, Pashto, Arabic, or Somali
