JOB TITLE:
Library Aide – Digital Scholarship Center, University Libraries
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:
This position will assist staff and faculty in the Digital Scholarship Center with greeting visitors, tidying the center as needed, and updating/maintaining equipment. This position may also work in the Digital Collections office with digitization, repository work, and other duties as assigned.
- Job location: Coe Library
- Pay rate or range: Pay rate starts at $9.15/hr. Pay increases to $9.50/hr. after successful completion of first semester of work.
JOB PURPOSE:
Assists staff and faculty in the Digital Scholarship Center with greeting visitors, tidying the center as needed, and updating/maintaining equipment. This position may also work in the Digital Collections office with digitization, repository work, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General organizational work in the Digital Scholarship Center, assisting with DSC maintenance and day-to-day operations as directed.
Other work may include:
Handling and preparing analog items (including fragile or rare materials) for digitization by scanning or digital photography; preparing digital objects to be mounted on library servers; assist in database building; data entry on various library databases; using electronic databases to search for information on the items being described; updating data on various library databases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education : High school diploma/GED
Experience : N/A
Other requirements: Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.
- Ability to work well with others;
- Interest in learning new technology and software;
- A positive and strong work ethic.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
General customer-service skills; accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail; some knowledge of databases and database entry; knowledge of internet searching, use of scanners and/or photography and be able to be trained on the use of a scanner or digital camera. Library experience preferred but not required.
