Job Description

The Work-Study Assistant, under general supervision, will provide assistance in the communication and training areas of the Center for Information Technology Excellence. This position will serve as a key role in the development of brochures, invitations, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, presentations, displays, audio-visual materials, instructor guides and lesson plans. This position will use measurement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the communications plan and Information Technology (IT) training programs on campus. This position will also maintain the departmental website and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) to ensure current and accurate information is available to all our campus community. This position will also conduct administrative actions to ensure the maintenance of records and will interface with the campus community to promote all training sessions and special events.

Responsibilities :

  • Assist with developing brochures, invitations, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, presentations, displays, audio-visual materials, instructor guides and lesson plans.
  • Assist in planning, implementing and promoting special events and training sessions.
  • Assist with the design of measurement tools and feedback mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of the communications plan and IT training programs on campus.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining C.I.T.E. social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and drafting news releases.
  • Provide support in all C.I.T.E areas and other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
  • Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
  • No prior experience necessary
  • For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
