NextEra Energy Resources is one of the largest wholesale generators of electric power and renewable energy from the wind and sun in North America.


Position Specific Description

Individuals who have been successful in the Harvest Team Wind Field Service Technician role typically have experience using basic power and hydraulic tools, along with the ability to read, interpret and understand basic drawings and schematics. In this position you will have the opportunity to read and interpret technical manuals and procedures, while also demonstrating basic industrial safety practices/protocols including LOTO and Test-Verify-Test while maintaining and repairing wind turbines.


Individuals in this role will travel to various sites within the wind fleet to perform preventive maintenance for the wind turbines. You will be required to travel 80% of the time and may need to work weekends or off-hours. Please keep in mind our sites are located across the country and you will work in various weather conditions.


This position is considered a conduit into our fleet where you will gain experience on various types of wind towers and after a year of traveling with the Harvest Team you would be encouraged to obtain a position at one of our many Wind sites or join our traveling team working on the Major Component task force.

Job Overview

Employees in this entry-level role perform maintenance and repair activities on wind turbine generators. Individuals conduct precision measurement, generator alignment, bearing replacement, and torque checks.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Under direct supervision:

  • Travels extensively with little or no notice within the entire company fleet
  • Performs maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment
  • Performs electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Maintains all company supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling
  • Completes Safety Mentor training curriculum with 6 months of initial hire
  • Completes Wind Field Service Technician III training curriculum within first year
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 1+ years in a technical field, OR completion of a technical certificate/degree program
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
  • Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet
  • Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval

  • Associate’s Degree
