Position Details
Wellness Services at The University of Tampa has an opening for a Wellness Coordinator. The Wellness Coordinator has direct responsibility for coordinating campus-wide health promotion activities for all areas of student wellbeing, including, but not limited to alcohol and other drug education, prevention and harm reduction; mental health; sexual health; social and spiritual wellbeing; and peer education programming; including related research and planning activities. This position reports to the director of wellness.

The work of this position will intentionally align with strategic priorities to advance the mission and vision of student affairs which results in student learning and support for students to grow as global citizens.
This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions.
Responsibilities
1. Serve as a campus community expert in wellness, including mental health, substance abuse prevention and recovery, offering consultative services to students, faculty, staff, administrations, and families.
2. Coordinate Wellness programs and services for UT students in all 8 functional areas of wellness.
3. Work with the director of wellness to create strategic plans, goals, logic models, measurable objectives and learning outcomes for mental health, alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, and other drug (AOD) programs and services.
4. Hire, train, manage, supervise, and evaluate paid and/or volunteer student staff, interns, and/or peer educators that work with wellness initiatives.
5. Teach bystander intervention techniques as needed.
6. Advise/mentor student wellness organizations affiliated with the Wellness Center’s Live Well UT peer education program that focus on alcohol and other drugs, nutrition, physical fitness, mental health, sustainability, financial wellness, sexual health and relationship education., including, but not limited to: Active Minds, Healing Arts, Balance UT, (Menal Health Focused), Rx Factor, prescription drug abuse prevention and education; Watch Your BAC, alcohol harm-reduction program; Breathe Easy UT, tobacco prevention, cessation and education, DisJointed, marijuana education program, and BASICS peer educators.
7. Continue to develop and support The University of Tampa Recovery Community (UTRC) to assist students in recovery and those in treatment to remain clean and sober and complete their education at The University of Tampa.
8. Develop and coordinate on-going group education and support programs for students.
9. Assist with CEDARS, the campus alcohol, other drug and tobacco community coalition, and actively participate in community coalitions, such as the Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance (HCADA) Tampa Alcohol Coalition (TAC), Marijuana Task Force and the Tobacco Free Partnership of Hillsborough County.
10. Develop and disseminate social norm and educational campaigns utilizing social media.
11. Develop and coordinate on-going group education and support programs for students, including on-going support for UT’s collegiate recovery program.
12. Coordinate the mandatory on-line, population level prevention program for all incoming students, in conjunction with the Wellness Center staff assistant. Develops referral networks and make appropriate referrals.
13. Participates in and provides outreach and Mental Health/AOD/wellness promotion activities, workshops, trainings and/or events.
14. Works closely with Residence Life Staff in the development and delivery of wellness education, including mental health, alcohol, cannabis and other drug education programs in the Residential Curriculum.
15. Represents Wellness Center with professional demeanor and composure at outreach events and other meetings occurring both on and off-campus.
16. Exhibits exceptional customer service, professionalism, and team work in all aspects of work.
17. Supports vision and mission of the Wellness Center.
18. Participate in research and professional writing, publications, and/or presentations.
19. Actively participate in professional organizations, eventually in a leadership capacity.
20. Assist with an currently funded/new grant deliverables.
21. Assists with other duties as assigned.
22. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
Qualifications- Master’s degree required. Most relevant degree areas include counseling, mental health, health promotion, health policy, or health education. Degrees in other fields may be considered with evidence of sufficient university-level coursework and/or professional continuing education in the areas listed above.
- Certification as a Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified in Public Health (CPH), or eligible and intent to become certified is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of ATOD work experience, preferably in a higher education environment.
- Evidence of ability to provide leadership and problem-solving skills in analyzing the wellness needs of emerging adults, especially college students.
- Experience conducting needs assessments and using results to guide programmatic decisions and budget allocations.
- Experience conducting literature reviews, program evaluations, interpreting findings, and developing plans to programmatically and strategically respond to the findings.
- History of verified active membership in relevant professional associations (e.g. ACHA, , NASPA, etc.) preferred.
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Summer: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
