Weekend Organist

Under the supervision of the Pastor and Collaborative Director of Music, quali?ed candidates will provide organ accompaniment for cantors, choirs and congregants for weekend Masses throughout the liturgical year. Candidates must be professional or highly trained musicians that encompass a pastoral sensitivity to the celebration of the Catholic liturgy and understand the importance of sacred music within the celebration of the Eucharist.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide organ accompaniment for 2-3 weekend Masses (currently 4 PM Saturday, 10 AM Sunday).
• Provide organ accompaniment at choir/cantor rehearsals when needed.
• Collaborate with Pastor and staff in executing appropriate liturgical music throughout the year.
• Willingness to participate in other liturgies/events throughout the year when needed.

MUSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent experience.
• Professional pro?ciency in organ playing and accompanying soloists/choirs.
• Basic pro?ciency in singing and voice.
• Familiarity with various liturgical music genres with primary focus in Gregorian chant and traditional hymnody.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3 years experience in liturgical ministry in a Catholic parish.
• Basic knowledge of the Church's tradition of sacred music and documents governing sacred music.
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability of serving collaboratively with other members of Parish staff.

COMPENSATION

• $100 per Mass.
