The Caterpillar Pontiac facility is adding jobs and growing! Through Caterpillar’s recent facility consolidation efforts, Caterpillar Pontiac need to hire more employees due to the additional work being brought into the facility.

As a Lathe Specialist at Caterpillar, Inc., you will operate, set up and adjust automatic lathes to perform various combinations of machining operations on miscellaneous parts. * Executing machining operations on N/C lathes to perform complex combinations of machine of machining operations or limited combination of machining operations close to tolerance.

Shift: 3rd Shift Weekends

Hours: Thursday 7pm- 11pm and Friday-Sunday 7pm -7am

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manually operate vertical turret lathes
  • Adjusts single spindle automatic cutoff machines to perform cutoff and/or chamfer operations on barstock, tubing, etc.
  • Applying safe working methods

Required Qualifications

  • Previous machine shop experience
  • Good communication skills and strong commitment to safety and teamwork

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous CNC experience
  • Awareness of Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain (5S) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

Additional Information

  • Starting pay is $23.02+ $0.60 shift differential
  • This is full-time position offering benefits including health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, 401K, etc.
  • Training required on traditional day shift (Monday-Friday) for up to 3 months
