Job Description

Ballantine Communications Inc. (BCI) is seeking a Website Development Manager to join our team! This person will manage a team responsible for the design and development of all BCI digital properties as well as external client products. The responsibilities include overseeing projects from conception to implementation, designing and developing web architecture, and providing guidance on technical issues. BCI supports the growth of the individual along with excellence achieved through teamwork. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supervise and direct web developer / web designers
  • Design and develop front-end and back-end web architecture
  • Develop servers and databases
  • Work with and liaise with sales team, creative team, third party vendors and contractors
  • Create user interactions on web pages
  • Stay up to date with industry developments
  • Estimate scope of work and forecast timelines
  • Other duties as assigned
Successful candidates will have the following attributes:
  • AWS cloud hosting experience
  • Server side deployment, updates and management
  • PHP with a focus on custom Wordpress theme development
  • Scripting with Bash to automate tasks
  • Knowledge of auto scaling on AWS
  • Docker, Kubernetes or other containerization framework
  • Development services: AWS, Github, Cloudflare, WordPress, Jenkins, CLI, Node, Homebrew, MySQL
  • Programming languages: Git, Javascript/jQuery, PHP, HTML, CSS/SCSS, MySQL, MongoDB, Ruby
  • Management and communication services: Trello, Google Drive, Google Workspace, Slack, Monday

Training and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, 3-5 years of industry experience may be acceptable
