Job Description
The Advice Lab is an integral part of wealth management at J.P. Morgan Private Bank and is dedicated to providing clients and prospects across the wealth spectrum with differentiated advice to help them navigate their financial lives. Private Business Advisory, one of the ten pillars of the Advice Lab, provides strategic, practical advice to private business owners and their families regarding business transitions, corporate governance, pre-transaction planning, and maintaining a legacy business over multiple generations.

Role Overview - Private Business Advisory (PBA) Advisor
The Vice President position, based in Columbus, will be primarily responsible for generating new business, with a focus on Midwest prospects and clients, as well as providing strategic advice on issues affecting private business owners. Additionally, they will be required to:


  • Provide thought leadership and expertise to clients and internal partners on topics such as:
    • Discuss transition options and the current market environment
    • Management succession plans
    • corporate governance structure
    • Deal terms and structure
    • Corporate governance structures
    • Best practices related to corporate documents including operating and buy-sell agreements
  • Advise on pre and post-transaction planning strategies and integrate within family wealth transfer plan
  • Assist in identifying value and/or synergistic opportunities to help business owners obtain the greatest return from their business

Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Advanced Degree or licensing preferred, ideally MBA, CFA or JD
  • 5+ years' work experience in Legal, Investment Banking, Valuation or Asset Management
  • Ability to convey subject-matter expertise and credibility in front of Wealth Management salesforce and clients/prospect
  • Superb analytical and quantitative skills (with a solid grasp of the mathematical principles underlying the financial valuation models used to develop recommendations for clients)
  • A strong self-motivator who can work both independently and within a team environment
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and comfortable multi-tasking
  • Proactive, accountable and detail oriented work ethic
  • Excellent organizational skills, diligent with tracking and reporting
  • Individual with high ethical standards who never sacrifices integrity and works in the clients' best interest
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to travel, approximately 30% of work week
