Responsibilities & Qualifications: A Warehouse Receiving Supervisor supervises personnel and activities of Gordon Food Service (GFS) distribution centers. They assign staff and monitor the flow of products through the distribution center. This person will also be responsible for leading the inventory team.Education: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required, with college degree preferred
Experience: Ten years of previous warehouse experience required. Two years previous leadership experience (or an equivalent of training, education, and experience) required.
Essential Functions:
- Directs the safe and cost effective operation of warehouse receiving.
- Schedules and maintains warehouse receiving personnel.
- Assists in development and enhancement of inventory control and receiving and stocking procedures.
- Coordinates receiving activities with Purchasing Department. Instructs and monitors personnel in use of equipment.
- Directs all aspects of inventory control including physical counts, stock rotation and damage and spoilage controls.
- Develops, monitors and controls the day wages and supplies aspect of the over-all departmental budget. Interviews, hires, trains, and retains staff.
- Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department.
- Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.
- Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, etc.
- Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas
