A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS MANAGER

As our Warehouse Operations Manager, you ensure that our warehouse runs properly and efficiently. You are a strategic leader and help us reach our financial objectives. By designing and developing product movement and storage systems, you oversee the efficient receiving and storing of products. You recruit, select, train, and provide oversight for employees as well as plan and review their compensation. Under your exceptional leadership, they are inspired to take pride in their work. You effectively communicate job expectations and provide coaching.

Goal-oriented, you are continually working to improve operations. You are an effective problem-solver. After completing audits and identifying trends, you implement effective productivity, quality, and customer service standards. You also develop our warehouse design by planning the layout, product flow, and product handling systems. After carefully evaluating our needs, you also recommend any new equipment that is needed to optimize our operations. You establish, follow, and enforce high standards that comply with legal standards.

You forecast financial requirements, prepare an annual budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions. Coordinating with Security, you develop policies and procedures to secure warehouse property. You regularly update your job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
