Pay Rate: $17 - $21 + shift premiums

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate fork lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, unload/load truck or hoist shipments from shipping/receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Affixes appropriate labels and/or stencils identifying shipping information on packed cartons.
  • Provides prompt and efficient service to customers by maintaining shipping schedule.
  • Re-palletize and label boxes.
  • Read shipping orders to verify quantity, quality, labeling, addressing of products, carrier, specifications, and items of merchandise ready for shipment to customer.
  • Use time management and organization skills to effectively pull orders.
  • Wrap skids and/or containers with shrink-wrap or plastic binding.
  • Determine storage area for finished product prior to shipment
  • Troubleshoot work-related problems by using problem solving techniques.
  • Verify bar code move ticket and product is the same for inventory control.
  • Work in teams to solve problems, complete tasks, and meet shipping schedule.
  • Clean work area, such as removing banding, shrink-wrap material, and pallets to maintain safety.
  • Compare stock numbers and color of product with customer's order and other identifying data.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet quality control standards.
  • Maintain fork-lift operator license.
  • Monitor and correct palletized inventory for proper stacking and storage.
  • Return product/carton to production for corrections as required for maintaining quality control.
  • Use a computer to locate information and print labels.
  • Use attachments to the fork-lift, such as slip-sheet puller and clamp.,
  • Compare identifying information, and count, weight or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Load container cars or trucks and stack cartons by hand
  • Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating directly with the supervisor or lead person.
  • Insert items into containers using spaces, fillers, and protective padding.
  • Prepare a tally sheet to verify count and identify where product is located in the truck.
  • Read scale dial to ascertain weight and record weight on ticket, product, or material; or subtract tare from gross weight to obtain net weight of product or material.
  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, rejects, damaged items, and record shortages to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Assemble cardboard containers or select preassembled containers to pack product.
  • Complete a transition work order when transferring inventory
  • Pull orders and print packing lists for UPS shipments.
  • Use strapping machine to bundle cartons together
  • Complete a daily fork lift maintenance checklist.
  • Post weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage in UPS department
  • Use hand held scanner to scan and create labels.
  • Know how to use WMS scanners
  • Put away production from Plastics using the WMS system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work conditions consistent with a manufacturing environment. Frequent exposure to manufacturing operations requires the ability to use all necessary safety equipment. Standing, walking, stooping, and bending are frequent and required. Must be able to tolerate repetitive motions for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for at least 8 hours on concrete surface is required. Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures.
