Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Shipping/Receiving Clerk performs a variety of clerical duties to coordinate and verify shipping and receiving quantities and arrangements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Checks receivers against quantities ordered, verifies and sign freight bills. Inputs receiving and attaches freight bills and bills of lading, records for Accounts Payable.
  • Schedules loads and assigns doors, prints Purchase Orders and separates by door for receiving crew.
  • Prepares bill of lading for RTV, makes arrangements to return product to vendor.
  • Works with buying staff to resolve receiving problems (short receivers, improper UPC, invalid Purchase Orders, etc.).
  • Prints inventory cycle count sheets and inputs inventory.
  • Sorts store invoices and prepares delivery receipts for each store to be sent with drivers.
  • Completes truck manifests daily to include store invoice number, total weight for each store and total cases (from load summary).
  • Researches problems for stores, drivers and other departments.
  • Completes ship memos as needed each day including item number and slot number for order fillers.
  • Cross trains with other warehouse functions as needed, such as inventory control and physical inventory cycle counts.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Education Level:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Skills and Experiences:

  • Possesses ability to work with minimum supervision, good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Possesses good math skills, keyboarding and 10-key calculator skills. Position requires use of calculators, telephones and other office equipment. Prior experience with on-line CRT computer environment helpful.
  • Possesses good oral and written communication skills, both with co-workers and over the telephone with outside and Company personnel.
  • Work is performed under normal office working conditions in a temperature-controlled environment. Incumbent may sit for long periods of time (generally an 8 hour shift) at a desk or computer terminal.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work typically performed in a temperature-controlled environment.
  • Sits, stands or walks for extended periods of time.
  • Bending, stooping and twisting required periodically.
  • Spends long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
  • Uses calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
  • Workday is fast paced, some evening and weekend work may be required.
