Location: Washington, DC
Position Overview: BCS, LLC is seeking a mid-level graphic designer with at least 5 years of experience. This role will create graphic design products for our government client, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and may provide graphic support for internal company initiatives. The graphic designer will need to have an eye for creativity with meticulous attention to detail, working well under pressure, managing multiple requests, and meeting deadlines. An ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment. To excel in this role, the Graphic Designer should be innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages to key internal and external stakeholders through visual imagery.
Responsibilities:
- Working with a wide range of media and use graphic design software.
- Adhering to style guides and federal standards with all content.
- Creating and designing various materials for print and digital products.
- Ensuring projects are completed with high quality and on schedule.
- Prioritizing and managing multiple projects and clients within design specifications and budget restrictions.
- Performing retouching and manipulation of images.
- Managing website development and help develop and implement a website. strategy that enhances usability and increases reach.
- Establishing creative direction for the company as well as brand guidelines.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic arts, design, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and In Design.
- Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web.
- Experience with web design and webpages.
- Experience creating fact sheet, report, PowerPoint, and other templates.
- Experience with infographics and other images related to data or numbers.
- Experience with reading style guides and other guidelines.
- Experience working independently and in a team.
- Experience taking feedback constructively and modifying work for the client/liaison.
- Excellent eye for detail; must be able to advise on how to represent DOE’s technologies and mission across multi-media.
- Ability to handle multiple deadlines and complete assignments with minimal supervision in a fast-paced workplace.
- A compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS preferred.
- Experience understanding technical concepts and being able to translate the concept into a clean, highly impactful image. Experience with energy, sustainability, and/or climate change topics.
- Experience with creating and editing animations and/or videos.
- Experience with ADA web compliancy. Experience with story mapping.
