Position Information

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Communications, Hospitality Event Management, Recreation, Organizational/Business Management or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in customer service, event planning or sales with demonstrated success preferably for a museum or similar cultural organization.
Strong organizational, judgment and personal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with others, including public speaking.
Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Be flexible and capable of improvisation, and comfortable with change and innovation.
Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills that promote open communication, friendliness, respect for all positions, and maintenance of confidentiality and contribute to success of the organization.
Ability to listen actively and be responsive to visitor needs and expectations.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and ability to quickly learn other software programs.
Clear, concise, business-like communications skills with staff and the public are essential.
Must be able to work nights and weekends.

Desired QualificationsFamiliar with managing a budget.
Experience with driving program sales/sales outreach.
Experience working with volunteers.
Museum or cultural organization experience.
Experience in a supervisory capacity.
Experience with Volgistics volunteer software.
Experience with Caterease event software.
Experience with FareHarbor online ticketing software.

Additional Qualifications
Position PurposeUnder the general supervision of the Visitor Services manager, responsible for volunteer management, community events, daily tours, group tour sales, and photography/videography session sales. Answer visitor questions and communicating with MBE staff as needed. Responsible for volunteer / visitor services staff supervision, scheduling, training, program reports and budget monitoring.
