POLITICAL SCIENCE - The Department of Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo, California, invites applications for a one-year, visiting professor position for our Masters of Public Policy Program (MPP) who will serve as Interim MPP Director and teach some of our core courses in the program. The teaching assignment is 45 units across the academic year, with 8 units (2 courses) per quarter and 4 units (1 course) of assigned time for serving as MPP Director. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in graduate student advising, experience in graduate level teaching, and experience with program administration.

An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Political Science, Public Policy, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent is required. The position is open rank. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Political Science, Public Policy, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent is required. The position is open rank.

Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings is required. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in graduate student advising, experience in graduate level teaching, and experience with program administration.

Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work and work experience in (or knowledge about) teaching virtually, and those who bring professional capabilities.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Cal Poly Political Science Department prides itself on its collegiality and commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship. The department serves approximately 400 majors, 130 minors and 25 graduate students. At the undergraduate level, the department offers concentrations in American Politics, Global Politics, Pre-Law and Individualized Courses of Study, as well as minors in Law & Society, Political Science and Global Politics. It also administers a Master of Public Policy Program.
