Chat Sports is a live and on-demand sports video news network built for digital platforms - with a key focus on YouTube. Our shows are watched by over 10 million sports fans per month on our 16 YouTube channels. We're building the premier interactive network for sports fans and are growing the Production team that supports our on-air hosts! We just moved into our brand-new studio in downtown Dallas and this role is on-location and is not available for WFH/remote candidates.

The Role
We’re looking for a creative, quick-on-their-feet, problem solving Video Production Assistant to operate the production desk for our live and on-demand sports video news programming. You will work side-by-side with our hosts to produce 10-15+ videos per week for our respective YouTube channels.
**NOTE: This is not a camera operator role.**
The Production Assistant is a critical part of our company, and will learn about and work on the entire end-to-end production process, including:
Pre-Show:
- Graphics building
- Fact-checking & proofreading
- Setting up the studio for filming (audio & lighting)
Live Filming:
- Operating production software
- Make editorial decisions in real-time
Post-Filming:
- Copy development
- Marketing & distribution
This role also provides opportunity to develop new ideas and provide suggestions for our shows. A sophisticated knowledge of current sports news and history, with a focus on the NFL, NBA, and College Football is necessary. The successful candidate must have an instinct for what’s trending and what a live (or on-demand) audience is responding to, and be able to make instant-decisions regarding graphics, video, or hosts on screen, to maximize audience.
Basic video editing skills with iMovie (or similar program) is required. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and ability to edit in Premiere is a plus.
To excel in this role, you must be creative, adaptable, flexible, and a quick thinker. Most importantly, you must recognize patterns, be a great decision maker, and be an internal vocal champion for our audience.
Required Experience:
- 1-2 years experience in live production and video journalism. Recent grads will be considered with proper experience or skills acquired as an undergrad
- Experience working with (or using): Microsoft Office or Google Docs/Sheets, Dropbox, Windows, MacOS
- Familiarity with a live newsroom and experience with a rundown or live video production program - experience with Livestream Studio is BONUS POINTS
- Above average knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
- In-depth understanding and extensive experiences working with video on social media platforms, especially Facebook and YouTube
- Strong communication skills
- Strong desire to learn new skills
- Working knowledge of production and post-production techniques
- Organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Strong current and historical knowledge (and interest) of the NFL, NBA, and College Football
Sports video consumption has fundamentally changed, requiring new talent, new formats, new platforms and new shows to be available to viewers on any device at any time. We are focused on creating video programming for this new generation of sports fans and are looking for a creative and resourceful jack-of-all-trades video producer who can create compelling video content.

This role is located in Dallas, TX, and works out of our live production studio. This job requires weekend and evening work.
