As a member of Autodesk’s leadership team, you will be responsible for planning and guiding organizational strategy and teams in the areas of Tax, Payroll and Stock Administration. You will need to anticipate and effectively deal with market, customer, and product trends that could enhance the organization’s opportunities or adversely impact business results. As VP, Tax & Financial Services, you will also represent the organization in key relationships with financial institutions and government authorities worldwide.
This position will lead Tax at Autodesk as it enters its next growth phase as a company. As Autodesk makes this move, its tax challenges will evolve as well: it’s no longer about managing net operating losses (NOLs) and related tax attributes; it’s more about creating a tax strategy that reflects Autodesk’s future growth. Understanding and leading the industry on upcoming tax policy initiatives will be a hallmark of the role. Autodesk also has a significant international presence, as well as appetite for mergers and acquisitions, so expertise and interest in these areas is critical.
This executive position reports to the chief financial officer (CFO).
Location: Flexible (Dallas, San Francisco, or remote)
Responsibilities
Drive creation of company tax strategy as we migrate to profits and continue to grow
Lead the charge in influencing and implementing tax policy in the U.S. and abroad. Engage with policymakers to shape tax outcomes
Collaborate with senior executives across the company to understand their plans to then incorporate into the creation and implementation of our ongoing tax strategy
Oversee global cash tax and rate forecast for multiple legal entities domiciled in North America, Asia, and Europe
Identify foreign taxation issues while providing ongoing advice and guidance concerning global tax accounting and reporting, including VAT
Oversee management of transfer pricing and intercompany arrangements
Manage sales and use tax compliance, oversee local tax resources, and provide assistance in federal and state tax returns, tax accounting, and reporting
Oversee management of tax return process and coordinating correspondence with outside CPA firms
Drive ongoing improvement of tax processes with a focus on efficiency and automation – help us achieve our future of finance goal, which is our long-term strategy and vision to digitize finance and ensure meaningful work for our employees
Manage tax audits
Develop strategy and go forward perspective of optimal mix across in-source vs out-source with tax team. Strive for best in class mix across different tax engagement models
Lead payroll and stock administration teams- drive process efficiency and automation to take functions to the next level
Minimum Qualifications
Strategic senior tax leader with experience guiding a global tax organization and leading on tax matters
Experience driving operational aspects of tax including tax provision, tax compliance, international tax planning, and M&A
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, inspire and effectively guide a global organization of more than 100 employees
Extensive understanding of global taxation issues
Experience in cash tax and tax rate calculations (GAAP and non-GAAP), forecasting, and reporting, including building and maintaining a cash flow and tax rate forecast
Experience with international transfer pricing and VAT
Ability to build relationships with excellent communication skills to integrate the requirements of multiple site locations into the tax function

Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Tax or Accounting; CPA preferred
Ability to travel up to 20 percent of the time, occasionally on international flights
