The Vice President of Human Resources will report directly to the President/CEO and will have responsibility for the direction, strategy, planning and execution for North Shore Community Health’s HR organization to include Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits, Organizational Development and Training, DEI and Human Resources Compliance. This executive will be expected to be a key business partner to the CEO aiding in the development and execution of NSCH’s strategic plan and long-term business strategy, including becoming an anti-racist organization. The successful candidate is a strategic, critical thinking leader who has the right balance of strategic business acumen and functional expertise and will be a working day to day manager, partnering with the HR staff to support the staff at NSCH. As a team member, you will work with staff who are racially, ethnically and culturally diverse, so being culturally competent is required. A sense of humor is also very important!
Responsibilities
- Responsible for collaborating across the organization to create an environment where employees can thrive, bring their unique talents to work positively
- Directs HR strategy, team structure, capabilities and deliverables to ensure excellent support of changing organizational and business needs, including highly effective talent acquisition, onboarding and retention to ensure top talent across the entire organization.
- Directs the HR team in developing and executing world-class innovative systems and practices that promote high-performance culture, employee engagement and performance management, creating a highly motivated and top performing workforce.
- As a member of the Leadership Team, serves as a key business partner to the CEO and the team regarding all HR activities, as well as overall and business area specific strategic and tactical discussions, planning and execution.
- Oversees and ensures compensation and benefits programs and policies, making NSCH a highly competitive employer of choice.
- Directs the Health Center’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion process to maintain focus on and bolster the DE&I plans and necessary change management to further embed anti-racist best practices throughout the organization
- Evaluates and improves upon current compensation and benefits programs with best in class recommendations to better attract, motivate and retain talent.
- Designs, implements, and manages a strong training program across the entire organization
- Leads and motivates the HR team for continual improvement allowing personal growth and developmental opportunities.
- Provides episodic and ongoing coaching, counseling and guidance on effective employee relations practices to members of the Leadership and Senior Management Teams
- Ensures all HR related record keeping, and other practices are legally compliant and in accordance with company policy.
- Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
- Has overall accountability for developing and effectively managing the overall HR budget, ensuring that HR costs and services are aligned with financial goals and policies.

NSCH’s 140 employees provide comprehensive primary care, dental services, behavioral health care, care management, pharmacy, substance abuse disorder treatment, nurse care management, and insurance enrollment assistance services. In 2019, NSCH provided services to 13,272 patients in 63,170 visits. . Requirements:- BA/BS degree required; preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field advanced degree highly desirable.
- 10+ years of HR experience in high growth companies, ideally in non-profit and/or healthcare or a related industry.
- 5+ years in a senior HR role
- Demonstrated experience with organizational scale-up with successful leadership of a talent agenda that contributed to organizational growth and success.
- Proven skills in organizational development, performance management, talent acquisition and retention, compensation and benefits change management, executive compensation, etc.
- Successful record as a close and trusted advisor to the CEO and the executive team.
- Successful record in leading corporate culture & values initiatives in support of corporate strategy.
- Broad knowledge and understanding of all areas of HR and how to maintain legal compliance of HR systems and practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication both verbal and in writing, organizational skills and ability to influence.
- Bilingual in Spanish would be helpful
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products.
- Extremely detail-oriented in both verifying own work as well as the work of others.
- Must have reliable transportation to get to other sites and meetings as needed
