The VP of Internal Communications serves as the leader and person accountable for connecting our people with Robert Half’s mission, strategy, principles and brand. The team works across every business and function, providing counsel, shaping communications objectives, plans and resulting tactics and supports our leadership in creating employee engagement. The team owns, writes and manages content through all major internal channels, including email, intranet, Live Events and more.

This leader is charged with creating the strategy for a world-class internal communications team, making it easier for leaders to communicate and share information with their teams, for employees across roles and geographies seek out necessary information and to build community across the organization. This leader will be involved in a broad range of communications activities focused on engaging and enabling our global employees across a number of critical topics – specifically but not limited to HR (Business Updates, Talent Performance, Benefits, Learning & Development, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) and Social Impact programs.

The role is responsible for acting as a communications advisor, supporting the development and execution of fully integrated internal communications programs and ensuring that communications align with and support Robert Half’s purpose and key business objectives. You will work with business partners to gain a clear understanding of objectives and effectively translate them to communication strategies, delivered to employees through a range of channels and digital platforms.

This individual will be an exceptional people leader, who can attract, engage, motivate and retain highly-talented communications professionals and can help lead his/her team and the larger communications and marketing organization through fast and dramatic change as we transform.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with SVP, Communications, CMO, various businesses, leaders, and geographies to develop content strategies and manage firm-wide execution, including translation solutions for global content
  • Partner with C-Level Executives to develop communications and strategies aligned with key business priorities and objectives, ensuring tone, voice and method are well thought out and executed at the appropriate level.
  • Accountable for all internal communications, meeting goals and KPIs consistently. Develop KPIs aligned with internal communications best practices and goals and objectives of Robert Half internal communications needs.
  • Lead a large team made up of three sub-teams: Executive communications, Internal communications, accolades and our internal digital magazine. Coach and support the team and help manage workflow and priorities and process improvements
  • Works across teams to ensure messages are aligned and coordinated across the organization, share calendar with broader communications and marketing organization for transparency, workload, prioritization.
  • Experience in content development for audience journeys and partnering with our technical customer and employee life-cycle automation team and intranet and internal social and collaboration platforms to have a more personalize and effective content experience for our employees. Includes understanding data and insights to improve engagement and action metrics.
  • Lead a regular review of all communications channels to determine what’s working, what can be updated and what is driving engagement. Continuously quantify results and measures communications effectiveness. Work with Senior Business Partners to optimize communications and make it easier for employees.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing or related field required.
  • 15+ years in a communications role, 7+ years of people management experience
  • Experience working with senior leadership, including CEO, President, CFO, etc.
  • Proven track record of delivering impactful internal communications, including message development, communications planning, segmentation and measurement.
  • A 360-degree thinker who can navigate the nuances of a large, matrix organization with multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Clear track record of demonstrating experience in handling high-profile communications issues, change management, using sound judgement and persuasive counseling to senior leaders.
  • Present updates and results regularly to business stakeholders and deliver compelling and impactful presentations to the business and executive leaders.
  • Lead a regular review of activities to measure against codified goals and objectives.
  • Reduces broad concepts, business strategies and best practices into actionable communications plans that deliver against organizational goals.
  • Experienced in crisis communications.
  • Experienced in handling transformational shifts within an organization and the ability to manage the differences in opinions and cultures.
  • Excellent people leadership and development experience, including the ability to identify and attract world-class talent, train/develop employees and ensure the team is on the “cutting edge” of online marketing.
  • Collaborative and capable of breaking down silos so that all teams and departments can contribute to our success.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate and influence.
  • Extensive budget management experience.
