Job Summary
The Vice President (VP) of Human Resources and Talent Acquisition is responsible and accountable for developing and executing the human resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the company, specifically in the areas of recruitment, succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation and benefits. The incumbent functions as a strategic business advisor to senior management regarding key HR issues. Provides overall leadership and guidance to the HR function, develops, and implements HR programs and processes to achieve strategic business goals, serves as a key thought-partner to the CEO, and plays an important role on the Leadership Team. The SVP reports to the CEO/President.
Duties and responsibilities
- Leads a team of employees providing HR and talent acquisition operational support.
- Oversees the relationship and activities of the Company’s PPE partnership
- In collaboration with executive leadership team, formulates long-term HR strategies and enhances staff and organizational capabilities needed to sustain and grow the company.
- Provides strategic direction and guidance on the development and revision of HR policies and procedures.
- Identifies key performance indicators for the organization’s human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organization’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
- Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs.
- Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
- Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
- Drafts and implements the organization’s staffing budget, and the budget for the human resource department.
- Manages employee engagement surveys, analyzes results, and works with senior leadership in developing recommended actions to address concerns and improve the work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities / Team Management
- Interview and recruit employees as required. In conjunction with the senior leadership, assist in the selection of staff. Conduct employee performance appraisals, sets goals associated with the performance process, conducts disciplinary actions, and terminations as required.
- Provide training and technical mentoring of staff to facilitate growth within their career/profession and to further the goals of the firm.
- Organizes and oversees work schedules.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company Provides leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team that fosters collaboration while operating with autonomy and minimal oversight.
- Ensure The Building People policies and procedures are fairly and consistently followed
- Develops tools for staff as needed to ensure efficient workflows and a high level of quality and increase in employee productivity.
- Regularly reviews software tools for relevance and applicability.
- Maintains general team management resources and tools to ensure efficient operation, staffing projections, task management, etc.

- Establishes company-wide HR policies and procedures that allow for the efficient and effective management of the personnel.

Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong expertise in HR policies, procedures, and laws
- Experience in providing the full realm of HR services in a government contractor entity
- Knowledge and full understanding of SCA and CBA rules, regulations, and practices
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Strong background of hiring processes, personnel management tools, and training and development programs.
- Skill in conversant, credible, and persuasive techniques
- Strong knowledge of performance management systems and programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong organizational and management skills

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least fifteen years of human resource management experience highly preferred.
- Certifications such as SPHR or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
- Security Clearance preferred
