As a Veterinary Technician Trainer, you will deliver training programs and workshops to Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians within the hospital. In this role, you will monitor the effectiveness of training using individual or group performance results and collect feedback on sessions from attendees and use that feedback for future improvements. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Regional Training Partner to champion the BluePearl mission and vision in elevating and maintaining the high standards of patient care within the hospital.
Essential Responsibilities as a Veterinary Technician Trainer:
- Maintains proficiency at Veterinary Technician Level III clinical skills and competencies.
- Facilitates staff training for all technicians and assistants within the hospital.
- Plans, coordinates, and directly delivers onboarding and work skills training to the population of Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians within the hospital.
- Maintains focus on elevating the level of patient care through education.
- Monitors Penn Foster associates, providing support and training when needed.
- Ensure staff has access to adequate continuing education to meet state recertification requirements.
- Implements new, company-wide training programs as directed.
- Fosters effective working relationships between technicians/assistants/doctors/ managers and other hospital staff.
- Partners with hospital management, supervisors, and advanced-skilled Assistants/Technicians within the hospital to deliver day-to-day training and develop the hospital’s customized plan.
- Documents the status of staff training and updates the leadership team as needed through written reports and emails and retains clear documentation on what employees accomplish and follow through all training programs.
- Partners with the Regional Training Partner to assist in developing new programs, digital content, recruitment programs, or other efforts to develop and train staff.
- Additional related job duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Maintain LVT in accordance with state laws.
- Possession of a Vet Tech skill level III or greater for a minimum of 3 years. Previous emergency/specialty experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years in supervisory and/or training preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills: able to communicate effectively with clients, doctors, management, hospital personnel, tenant specialists, consulting professionals, and clients.
- Strong organizational/time management skills: able to set, prioritize and attain goals with attention to detail.
- Strong sense of integrity: able to maintain highest ethical standards, personal responsibility and accountability, and confidentiality of clients, doctors, and all staff.
- Strong analytical thinking skills: ability to use objective data to solve problems/create solutions.
- Follows and upholds the veterinary technology profession’s ethical codes.
