Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital is looking to add an additional full-time board-certified or board-eligible ophthalmologist to join our team in Woburn, Massachusetts. We have two full-time board-certified ophthalmologists currently. We are looking for a talented, energetic, personable individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who will be a contributing member of our multi-specialty veterinary team.

Our hospital is located just 11 miles north of Boston, a historic and vibrant city, with diverse offerings to meet anyone’s interests, including easy travel to the innumerable scenic points across New England.

The Hospital:

Our 36,000-square foot hospital, located 11 miles north of Boston, is home to one of the premier level 1 emergency and specialty centers in New England. We offer specialty care in Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Nutrition, Anesthesia and Critical Care, as well as a busy emergency service. Lastly, the hospital employs a social worker who assists both staff and clients on a full-time basis. The hospital is supported on site by a diagnostic laboratory with full time clinical pathologist, a dispensing pharmacy, and a compounding pharmacy.

The Equipment:

Our equipment includes a GE Vivid E95 ultrasound, digital radiology, 64-slice Toshiba Aquilion CT, 1.5 tesla Phillips MRI, and a GE OEC 9900 C-arm, and 3 ultrasound machines (GE E95, Phillips affinity, Phillips Epiq) with small footprint high mHz probes for ophthalmology. We have a dedicated Ophthalmology surgical suite that is supplied with following equipment:

  • Phacoemulsification unit Bausch and Lomb's Stellaris
  • Cryosurgery units - Frigitronics and Brymill units
  • Iridex Diode laser with G-probes and an indirect headset
  • Operating microscope,- Zeiss visu 200 with S8 base (newly purchased 2021)
  • ERG (Acrivet / Anvision)
  • Hallowell ventilator
