Job Description

Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around August or September 2021 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e. through December/January) or into early Spring 2022 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, for most internships. Please consider before submitting an application.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time depending on their academic standing.


The Role

Different thermal teams at Tesla are looking for motivated students with background in thermal sciences.

These teams are responsible for thermal management of multiple components across Tesla platforms (from silicon to vehicle to datacenters).

We prefer our interns to stay for a minimum of 8 months, however, other arrangements may be considered for motivated and exceptional candidates.


Responsibilities

  • Thermal analysis

    Analytical
    Modeling
    Simulation
  • Test and validation

    Benchtop Vehicle level
    Data analysis and providing summary reports

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of fundamentals of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics

    Undergraduate students: demonstration of interest in the above fields through projects, and research experience
    Graduate students: research work should be in a relevant field
  • Ability to work independently and take initiatives

  • Ability to break complex engineering problems into smaller problems that can be solved based on first principles
