Job Description

Shift Differentials: Employees working evening duty (3:00 p.m. to 11 :30 p.m. shift) shall receive an additional one dollar and fifty-five cents ($1.55) per hour over their regular rate of pay, and employees working night duty (11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. shift) shall receive an additional two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour over their regular rate of pay. Employees with scheduled shifts overlapping the aforementioned regular shift times shall be paid the appropriate shift differential for the hours worked.


All staff members at Yakima Valley Memorial must be in compliance with the Vaccination Policy, which includes the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine, by their first day of employment.


ROLE SUMMARY

The Utility Technician maintains floors and other duties in all patient and non-patient environments to ensure standards of Health, Safety, and I.C. Cleans areas of the hospital efficiently and completely as directed. Maintains assigned equipment in clean and attractive condition, free from dirt, spots and streaks. Keeps hospital clean by picking up debris from floors in hallways even if not in his/her work area. Follows special daily and weekly schedules as required with consistent quality clean up. Works with various mops, linen and housekeeping carts, vacuum cleaners, carpet sweepers, brushes, brooms, various buckets and housekeeping chemicals, solutions and supplies. Works with heavy equipment such as buffers, shampooers, extractors, scrubbers, wet and back pack vacuums, wall washing equipment, hand trucks and large window squeegees, etc. Organizes on-duty time to accommodate workload, including unanticipated changes in workload. Uses good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions. Observes and reports any needed repair of equipment, furniture, building and fixtures as necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required

Experience: Floor care experience preferred

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Current Washington State driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage required dependent upon work area
