JOB DESCRIPTION
Will perform all aspects of environmental administration, to include configuration, troubleshooting, process improvement, and ongoing life-cycle maintenance tasks, such as monitoring, tuning, patching and securing overall systems infrastructure. Responsible for documentation of procedures and development of repeatable best practices. Assists in developing standard operating procedures to ensure a consistent and optimum level of performance for both operational and regulatory compliance.

?ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
- Maintain, configure and support Unix COMPANY’s environment
- Provides IBM AIX (Unix) systems support for employees. Responsible for setup and maintenance of AIX systems as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) based LINUX systems
- Provides assistance in the resolution of day-to-day issues that arise with AIX/RHEL systems hardware and software
- Performs application installations and setup
- Analyzes and resolves hardware and software issues.
- Supports a 24 x 7 operation, and will carry a cell phone for this purpose
- Maintains knowledge of relevant IBM Power Systems hardware platforms to architect technical solutions that maintain the scalability and reliability required to operate a highly-available environment
- Tests and validates that hardware platforms and dependent software can operate without incompatibilities Initiates specialized work efforts and projects to continually drive scalability, reliability, and efficiency improvements
- Conducts independent research to understand new methodologies and technologies to improve management, maintenance, and configuration of the UNIX and IBM Power Systems environments
- Works outside of normal business hours with little notice or supervision
- Develops and maintains a high level of UNIX/AIX/LINUX (RHEL) architecture and design
- Analyzes and resolves moderately complex hardware and software issues related to UNIX technology
- Establishes strong working relationships with key staff members in COMPANY departments
- Facilitates communications throughout COMPANY
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert providing guidance to lower level workers
- May train or oversee the work of others
- Increases and maintains proficiency as an “Industry Expert” on UNIX/LINUX technology, methodologies, and concepts as appropriate
- Provides recommendations for improving the server environment
- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
- Has the ability to resolve issues in creative and effective ways
- Works on multiple projects as a team member and occasionally as a project leader
- Conveys team goals effectively through strong written and verbal communication skills

?EXPERIENCE
- Requires minimum 5 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements
- 3 years of experience in AIX Administration
?EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree : Computer Science, MIS or related field (Required)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
