Description
Job Description:The Leidos Defense Group/C4ISR Operation CTO organization is seeking an Senior Principal Engineer to develop maritime ISR solutions and execute programs that modernize unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) and undersea sensor systems (USS) in concert with maritime undersea ISR missions and their contribution to joint all-domain operational objectives. The position focuses on technical priorities of the Maritime Systems Division (MSD) as guided by the MSD Chief Engineer.
Primary Responsibilities
Develops solutions and executes programs that are highly innovative, focused on UUVs to USS in expanded mission applications, from mid-TRL capabilities to continuous delivery and operational sustainment.
Works with technical staff and Business Development personnel to understand customer needs; leads development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results through capture and proposal.
Performs technical execution leadership on a combination of customer- and internally-funded programs and projects. Applies and advances application of systems engineering and digital engineering approaches and tools.
Aligns solutions to the technology investment vision of the MSD through the leadership of the MSD Chief Engineer.
Leads work of other technical staff that has significant impact on project results/outputs.
Works to secure cross-organization buy-in on solutions that move from current practices toward agreement/acceptance of new concepts, practices, and approaches.
- Masters degree with 15-20 years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate with 13-16 years of prior relevant experience.
- A broad understanding of maritime ISR technology, current and emerging relevant platforms and systems, and agile DevSecOps methodologies, with focus on application to maritime undersea ISR missions, including classified.
- Experience leading the development of innovative solutions in support of major capture and proposal efforts, balancing these solutions against cost, schedule, function, quality, and other business considerations. Experience in executing the subsequent programs and projects.
- Experience in creation of white papers, proposals, and briefings demonstrating the thought leadership capabilities of the organization, as well as supporting various marketing and business development efforts through customer interaction.
- Strong communication skills
- Position requires an active Secret clearance, therefore US Citizenship is required to be eligible. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a TS/SCI security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent experience in architecting maritime ISR missions.
- Direct experience working with key Navy and related government organizations.
- Understanding of internal Leidos maritime ISR capabilities and limitations.
- Demonstrated expertise in Model Based Systems Engineering and application of Digital Engineering principals.
- Experience in support of and participation in transition of programs from capture/proposal to execution.
- Experience engaging in business development and capture efforts in the role of Solution Architect.
- Familiarity with secured data including multi-level classified data.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
