The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County is currently accepting resumes for Upward Bound Academic Coordinator position. The Academic Coordinator, under the supervision of the Upward Bound Director, is responsible for participation, academic success programming, PreCollege programming, case management, facility and child safety.

Duties include but not limited to: recruiting; meet participation goals; act as liaison between target schools, parents, organization staff and program staff; provide services and activities; assisting in academic year curriculum and summer component curriculum; accountable for assigned programming and quality programming; provide holistic and comprehensive case management; and safety at assigned site.

Work sites are located in low income areas, challenging neighborhoods, and growth neighborhoods. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and at times moderate or very loud. Position requires working with large groups of youth. There is potential for exposure to germs and illnesses. Employees are to follow all safety procedures and protocols.

Education and Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in education, counseling, social work, higher administration, or an appropriate field related to project objectives
  • Minimum of one year appropriate and relevant professional experience working for a TRIO federal program o similar related program
  • Minimum of two years’ experience providing assistance or advising students with test strategies or skills for postsecondary college entrance exams

  • Ability to work regular program hours with periodic evenings, nights and weekends
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with youth and internal/external stakeholders
  • Ability to be patient with youth and adults
  • Ability to identify needs and find solutions
  • Ability to motivate others into action
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Proficient documentation skills
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in academic curriculum
  • Ability to follow directions both verbally and written
  • Strong working knowledge of secondary core course curriculum
  • Effective organizational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of college preparatory activities
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screen at any time
  • Position requires driving personal vehicle and company vehicle. Candidates must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, satisfactory driving record and a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties and to be covered under the company insurance the requirement is for employee to be a minimum of age 21.

Pay & Benefits

Minimum Pay: $18.51 per hour (nonexempt full time)
