Job DescriptionReynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Tutoring Support Specialist will support the office operation of tutoring services and when possible, offer direct tutoring. Responsibilities include staffing the service desk of the tutoring center; explaining tutoring services policies and procedures; resolving or reporting issues when they arise; monitoring chat services, answering phones, supporting events such as open house, assisting students with scheduling appointments, connecting students with tutors, and other tasks as needed. The position will also offer direct tutoring on a subject area or on general academic/computers skills.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required QualificationsKnowledge of office practices, procedures and office equipment. Demonstrated ability to use current Microsoft Office programs and other online learning tools such as Canvas, Zoom, LibChat, and Navigate. Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow oral and written procedures. Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments and work independently. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service; develop positive working relationships; and to communicate and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion. High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred QualificationsPost-secondary coursework or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. Tutoring experience preferred.
