Description/Job Summary
Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. & leading international basic apparel company, has an immediate opening for Transportation Operations Specialist at its corporate headquarters in Bowling Green, KY.
The Transportation Specialist is responsible for planning, managing, and accomplishing all transportation activities in an efficient, timely, and economical manner. This will include booking shipments with the ocean carrier, load tendering to the truck carrier, export documentation, equipment management, monitoring import shipment and cost & transit time adherence. Transportation Specialist must simultaneously manage a variety of tasks and have a strong attention to detail to perform their jobs effectively. They must be able to identify problems, review related information, evaluate options, develop an action plan, and implement solutions while keeping all stakeholders informed.
Responsibilities/Duties
Responsible for providing transportation solutions, communicating with multiple service providers and administering direction for operations. Responsibilities include:- Providing routing instructions

- Freight variance tracking
- Solicitation of freight quotes
Maintain and update systems, spreadsheets, databases and other applications critical to operational visibility and awareness while ensuring accuracy. Maintain and update Amber Road Website. Maintain the Transportation container tracking system which builds container tracking reports. Monitor all external and internal reports for compliance and performance to management expectations and criteria.
Create bookings to reserve vessel space, obtain factory shipping documents, prepare, and review all necessary export documents required to ensure each shipment meets the requirements of the national Customs authorities or any other regulatory body. Validate and approve import pre-shipment documents (SAR) for container utilization, carrier, sailing schedule, ETA and transit.
Coordinate internally within the department and with other departments of FOL to keep key personnel informed of shipment status and updates. Assist Textile Facilities, Distribution Centers, Vendors, and Customers with shipment tracking.
Up to date knowledge of Federal and State DOT regulations and US Customs Export documentation requirements to maintain compliance.
Analyze cost variance versus Routing Guides/Budget. Provide Expedited transits options. Coordinates expedited shipments.
Required Experience
1-2 years experience of Logistics/Transportation or Supply Chain Management or in a similar field is required.
Required Qualifications
Education - Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university or equivalent work experience required.Degree in Logistics/Transportation or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to use intermediate level math and research skills to discover, document and recommend business process improvements.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve basic practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where standard resolution methods exist. Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts and draw valid conclusions using standard problem solving techniques.
Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure. Our team experiences large call volumes and issues needing immediate attention at the same time. It is essential to stay organized and prioritize requests.
Transportation operations are very dynamic and complex, requiring representatives to be analytical and proactive. They must have the ability to quickly assess multiple factors to identify the lowest cost transportation solution without sacrificing performance or customer expectations.
Computer Literacy - Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel with advanced formulas, Word and Powerpoint.
