Transportation Funding Specialist II – N486 – B19 - $3,520.33 to $5,746.66 per month
Transportation Funding Specialist III – N487 – B21 - $4,023.16 to $6,579.41 per month

General Description
Administers state and federal transportation funded programs. Oversees grants, programs and lettings to include: application, scheduling, approval, monitoring, audits, investigations, and/or close-out. Work requires contact with governmental agencies and/or special interest groups.
DutiesResponsibilities for a Transportation Funding Specialist II or III include:
- Analyzes highly complex applications and prepares and makes recommendations on program funding; advises when grants, projects, programs and lettings are approved, the status, funding matters and when funds become available.
- Participates in short-range and strategic planning.
- Assists with the annual formulation of the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), including verification of compliance with yearly allocations.
- Processes data for input; maintains and verifies reports; and/or establishes and updates records.
- Updates and monitors the TxDOTCONNECT system and financial information in the PeopleSoft System.
- Writes internal and external correspondence, including reports and memos, concerning programs and projects.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities for a Transportation Funding Specialist III include:
- Prepares and analyzes advanced applications and prepares and makes recommendations on program funding; reviews and recommends grants, projects, programs, and lettings
- Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and standards pertaining to programs.
- Keeps abreast of and ensures compliance with federal and state requirements concerning program administration and management.
- Oversees and coordinates the development and distribution of information.
- Performs statistical analyses of data.
Physical Requirements for a Transportation Funding Specialist II or III include:
- Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
- Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
Required Competencies for a Transportation Funding Specialist II or III include:
- Auditing and investigative methods, practices and procedures
- Budgeting methods and procedures
- Public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both internal and external
- Collecting, sorting and compiling data
- Interpreting applicable information
- Using computers and applicable programs, applications and systems
- Communicate effectively
Additional Required Competencies for a Transportation Funding Specialist III include:
- Coordinating and scheduling activities/resources
- Analyzing and organizing business and technical data
- Establishing plans and setting objectives and goals that support overall business strategy/results, anticipating and adjusting for problems/roadblocks
- Statistical analysis methodologies and reporting procedures
- Applicable grantand funding program processes, policies and procedures
This job requires the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Transportation or Business Administration
Transportation Funding Specialist II or III:
- 2 years in grant funding administration, planning, budgeting or working with state or federal funding.
Transportation Funding Specialist III:
- 3 years in grant funding administration, planning, budgeting or working with state or federal funding.
BOTH:
Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent
No supervisory experience required.
Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis.
