POSITION SUMMARY
Under general administrative direction by the Transit Superintendent, supervises all employees and activities of the Transit Division, insuring that drivers and routes are scheduled and that established schedules are met; fills in for the Transit Superintendent during absences; and performs other work as required or requested.
Administrative (80%)
- Plan, organize, or manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
- Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, or tracking transportation vehicles.
- Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, environmental policies, or government regulations.
- Serve as contact person for all Frankfort Transit workers.
- Recommend schedule or policy changes for transportation services.
- Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, holding safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
- Conduct investigations to verify and resolve passenger complaints.
- Assist in procurement processes including technical specification research, estimated project costs, and bid document creation.
- Interpret data from traffic modeling software, geographic information systems (GIS), or associated databases.
- Collect cash fares from transportation vehicles and prepare for deposit.
- Assist with Drug & Alcohol compliance, testing, and maintaining records according to published guidance.
- Assume driver responsibilities as directed.
- Conduct employee training sessions on subjects such as defensive driving, passenger assistance, drug & alcohol awareness, employee orientation, quality improvement, or computer use.
- Conduct investigations in cooperation with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents, coordinate cleanup activities, or improve safety procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Working is typically performed at a desk in an office with use of standard office equipment. Some driving required. Occassional exposure to weather conditions and some lifting of objects less than 50 pounds.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky or obtain the CDL license and passenger endorsement prior to completion of probation. Completion and renewal of Drug & Alcohol Compliance Certification & Reasonable Suspicion, Safety and Security Officer Certification required.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of experience in work related to dealing with the public, maintaining schedules, and effectively working in a team environment preferred.
Two years of project oversight and/or managing others preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or the equivalent required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Transportation Planning, or similar fields preferred.
Pay commensurate with experience, Upper $40,000.
