We are looking for a G3 Plans, Operations, & Training Specialist to join our team to support the United States Army Financial Management Command (USAFMCOM) located in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Provide draft writing and draft editing support to the USAFMCOM G3 and staff organizations for special projects and assignments, such as drafting the Finance and Comptroller updates, Playbook, annual reports, articles, other documents, papers, or technical publications on a wide variety of issues related to the Finance and Comptroller or Sustainment enterprise.
- Works closely with the USAFMCOM Chief of Staff, G-3 and other directorates as necessary. Majority of the work will be project based, with defined goals, timelines, and deliverables.
- Assists the USAFMCOM G3 staff in facilitating event planning and execution, under the oversight of the G3 leadership team. Work will include, but not limited to, the Theater Orientation Conference, held twice a year to assist deploying Financial Management Service Centers with their transition as the lead finance and comptroller mission in deployed areas.
- Assist with the management of the operations calendar. Maintains contacts with key stakeholders. Drafts plans and coordinates with external CONUS and OCONUS organizations. Periodically attends all technical and doctrinal workshops to keep up-to-date on near-term and future training events. Develops a battle-rhythm calendar for all of USAFMCOM by coordinating the various schedules from across USAFMCOM, AMC, and HQDA into a workable document produced every week and posted on readily accessible shared media.
- Following accepted agency publication practices and precedents and adapts them to carry out specific writing and editing assignments. Supports USAFMCOM by drafting and editing articles, workforce messages, speeches, interviews, training materials, brochures, statements, press releases, talking points, information papers, and other written products on a wide variety of issues and topics to meet one-time or recurring publication or other requirements.
- Assist the USAFMCOM G3 team in the planning and execution of the quarterly FC forum. The FC Forum involves the FC enterprise in discussions on topics that are timely and relevant to the FC community. Develop topics, presentations, and briefers for the FC Forum.
- Comply with overall publication length requirements or limitations setting the tone based on the target audience and message. Draft assignments that are project based with defined parameters and deliverables based on general input from senior leaders and subject matter experts. Edits the final information for clarity and accuracy. Will be required to take photos to support written materials
- Composes correspondence, letters, and documentation. Provides general administrative support to include composing correspondence, letters, endorsements, and training documentation and scheduling. Prepares regular and special records such as attendance, reports, etc.
- Develop operational and financial briefs and reports as required to meet USAFMCOM requests for information.
At a minimum you should have:
- An active SECRET security clearance.
- A college degree in an appropriate discipline with relevant experience at the senior management level.
- Broad knowledge of Army financial management planning processes.
- A working knowledge of DFAS processes and financial reports.
- The ability to produce high quality written reports to be reviewed and read by Army senior leaders. These written reports will form the basis of financial management doctrine throughout the Army.
- Working knowledge in social media outlets, Microsoft Office Suite, and TEDs.
- At least 12 months experience in training, operations, and plans.
- Considerable inter-personal/briefing skills to present staffing recommendations to high-ranking military/civilian personnel, to conduct both informal and formal briefings, training sessions and the ability to negotiate solutions to disputed/controversial issues.
