We have an exciting opportunity for a Thermal Test and Analysis Intern.

This is a temporary position not to exceed 10 weeks.

The selected candidate will:

• Support 3D Printing Heat Shield Project with intent of advancing additive manufacturing for thermal protection systems (TPS)
• Work will take place primarily in a lab setting with limited desk work component (< 20%)
• Handle various thermal materials and process them for evaluation
• Program 3D printing hardware and fabricate parts to finial geometry
• Working with the team, plan and carry out mechanical and thermal testing of cured and/or uncured materials
• Summarize and report results to project team
• Some thermal analysis as required
• Perform other duties as required

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Currently enrolled in an BS engineering program at an accredited university.
• Completed at least 60 credit hours
• Minimum of a 2.8 GPA

Preferences:

• Hands on experience with 3D printers and materials processing.
• Course work in thermal materials science.
• Experience with 3D printer slicing software.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
