About JSI
JSI is the consulting and broadband solutions leader for Rural and Tier II Service Providers. Over the past several years, JSI has expanded its services from compliance and regulatory consulting to business and finance consulting. In addition, with the recent acquisition of two broadband engineering firms, JSI is offering engineering, implementation, and managed services of broadband solutions. With billions of dollars of new investments every year and the critical need to extend broadband offerings across the country, the U.S. communications space has been growing rapidly, and JSI is well-positioned to partner with our clients to help them succeed.
We are in a period of growth and are searching for a Regulatory Analyst. In this new role, you will join the Regulatory Affairs Department, which provides regulatory, legislative, policy, and compliance counsel to JSI departments and JSI clients. Our department nearly doubled in size this past year, adding more diverse expertise in federal and state communications policy and compliance – as our clients deploy more next-generation networks and connect more customers
Do you want to help close the digital divide?
Are you a dynamic, independent thinker and doer who wants to help shape the culture of a rapidly growing, forward-looking company with a rich legacy?
Do you want to do something different every day? Well, mostly every day?
Do you want to help us, and our clients navigate the communications industry’s complex and ever-changing regulatory landscape?
Do you want to join a team that supports and challenges each other to reach their full potential?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above, then read on!
We are constantly adding new members to our team with significant federal/state regulatory and operational expertise, helping our clients better prepare to comply with the myriad regulations surrounding broadband funding and navigate the regulatory landscape when challenges arise.
While there is no typical day at JSI, a “day in the life” of a Regulatory Analyst may include:
- Preparing a filing for submission with a state public service commission or the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
- Reviewing newly adopted rules released by the FCC and educating the Federal Compliance Director about the new rules
- Speaking to a client about a problem they are facing and partnering with your team to find a solution
- Tracking news and updates from a state public service commission for changes to regulations or policies
- Brainstorming with your colleagues about how to improve internal processes
- Developing an outreach plan to launch a new regulatory service
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of professional experience in the telecommunications regulatory arena, such as a state public service/utility commission, FCC, Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), or related agency
- A love for problem-solving
- An ability to be in the weeds while also seeing the larger picture
- An aptitude for paying close attention to the details
You easily prioritize and manage work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A willingness to take on new challenges with a CAN-DO attitude.
- A growth mindset
- The desire to join a dynamic and growing company.
- USAC and E-Rate - a plus
- Cybersecurity governance and policy – a plus
While we are looking for an analyst with a minimum of three years of experience in telecommunications regulatory compliance, we will consider people with fewer years or other relevant experience if they demonstrate interest. We will also consider candidates with substantially more experience for a more senior role. This role also has a minimum billable hours requirement.
What we offer:
- A diverse and inclusive culture
- A Strengths-Based workplace
- Hybrid work environment
- Frequent office lunches and gatherings
- Annual company picnic
- Office ring toss
- Salary commensurate with experience
- Paid vacation, sick leave, floating holidays, 401K, and more
Ideally, candidates will be based out of our Greenbelt, MD or Austin, TX, office, but we will consider highly qualified remote candidates.
