Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Directs/manages overall daily operations of the designated Teen/Tween Clubhouse Region with the primary concern for a broad range of programs, including Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.

Plans, develops, oversees implementation and supervises programs. Works with other Unit/Site Directors to provide program delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration.


KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervises the planning and implementation of Club-wide activities and celebrations.
  • Establish Site programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Allocate and monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff.
  • Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
  • Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.

Program Development & Implementation

  • Establish and maintain Clubhouse program goals and settings that insure the health and safety of members. Ensure that site staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program; that they ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that club equipment is maintained in good working condition.
  • Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
  • Control Clubhouse program and activity expenditures within approved budget.

Strategic Planning

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate Site overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests.

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations.
  • Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers and media releases.
  • Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Purchase or approve purchase of supplies and equipment.
  • Handle membership and other program fees.
  • Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
  • Will be required to drive Club van periodically or rental vehicle periodically.
  • Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
  • Assume other duties as assigned

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Maintains contact with Branch Boards. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel.

External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Associates degree preferred or 48 units, or 3 to 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Ability to provide site coverage at other clubhouse in region
  • Attending training and other planned activities at Boys & Girls Club's administrative offices in Redlands as needed
  • A minimum of three years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Interpersonal skill development and maintenance.
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications (will provide training)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
