Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technical Writer is an integral part of the Quality Assurance team that will be devoted to the development and maintenance of the organization’s quality documentation. The primary focus is to create quality documentation for departments by generating standard operating procedures and detailed quality work instructions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with subject matter experts to obtain a deep understanding of engineering operations. Translate these complex processes into simple and polished quality document drafts can be reviewed for approval by the various process owners.
  • Perform editing to existing documentation, bringing them into compliance with the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Work with department leads to identify all documentation repositories, revise, organize and store to SharePoint’s quality documents list.
  • Ensure the QMS structure is implemented consistently across the organization.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Manager and Administrator with QMS workload including but not limited to document creation, formatting, and organization.
  • Assist with QMS efforts for new or changing business processes as needed.
  • Assist with QMS document control implementation efforts as needed.
  • Assist with developing QMS training materials as needed.

GENERAL:

  • Travel domestically 10% or less per year.
  • Safely commute between St. Louis, MO Headquarters and manufacturing facility in Red Bud, IL.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree in related field is a plus.
  • Zero (0) to Three (3) years of experience is required.
  • Technical writing experience in either the Engineering or Manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Outstanding technical writing skills is a must along with verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and Word. Effective computer skills with other Microsoft Office software.
  • This position requires a highly productive individual with a passion for quality management.
  • Meticulous by nature with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with outstanding organizational skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • General knowledge of SharePoint is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office and an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes,

chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. All

employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully

perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will, regularly, be

required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop,

kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. on a regular basis is required.
