Job Description
- Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field
- 3+ years as a technical writer in a relevant field
- Experience designing and delivering developer documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to write example code in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, JavaScript, Python
- Application must include a portfolio of links to writing samples that demonstrate your experience
You’ll use markdown format in a docs-as-code environment to write content, Git for source control, and the Jekyll static site generator and engineering pipelines to build and publish the docs. You’ll use collaborative systems to edit and review documentation. You will interact daily with product teams, engineering, and solutions architect teams.
You will exhibit strong project management skills, the ability to work independently, and a history of successfully partnering with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the development and product documentation for APIs with product and engineering teams
- Apply documentation design standards to produce high-quality documentation for various services
- Write and edit code samples to support documentation
- Independently follow designs and standards to develop and deliver documentation for products
- Work as part of a team to produce conceptual, how-to, and API reference documentation for products
- Help define metrics for Help Center usage and use a data-driven approach to prioritize and drive improvements
- Conduct peer edits for grammar, style, and form
- Help define writing projects and determine priorities
- Experience with publishing systems based on Markdown and version control, such as GitHub/Git
- Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills
- Proven experience using and following a style guide
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Previous experience working in an agile programming environment
- Experience creating API and SDK documentation
- Passion to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Familiarity with Android
- Conduct technical reviews of documentation to ensure accuracy
