Job Description
The Technical Product Manager is responsible for defining and executing the technical vision, leveraging deep technical expertise. You will understand and provide input on technical decisions, working closely with Engineering and Architecture. You'll articulate, vet, and prioritize features to improve the quality and scale of your products.
We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to own the technical roadmap of the Content Management System (CMS) across channels and Drive Thru Technology solutions. The CMS currently drives menu board content in both the drive thru and inside the restaurant, with potential to extend to other channels. In this role, you will partner with strong technical leaders to drive long term vision through development and support markets with deployment activities. You will also serve as a key participant in cross-functional forums to ensure alignment with global solutions and implement scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish a technical vision and strategy for the content management system and digital menu board products, explicitly focusing on technologies to enhance the ordering process in the restaurant
- Define and drive a technical strategy and architectural vision for your product, participate in partner selection when needed, and lead a distributed development organization to deliver your product
- Partner with business and operations counterparts to define and manage a rolling 12-month roadmap; regularly reviewing the roadmap with the content management system partner in order to forecast development resource capacity
- Write and refine developer stories, maintain an organized technical product backlog aligning with product strategy and resource capacity, and define dependencies and requirements cross-platforms
- Define and drive priorities for engineering sprints and product releases
- Maintain organized oversight of specific product delivery schedules to ensure proper balance of speed, features, timing, and integration with other functions, and communicate in coordination with Program Management
- Evaluate and prioritize emerging opportunities for performance, scalability, and integration
- Set quality and scalability metrics for the platform, and manage roadmap against objectives and key results (OKR)s
- Work closely with peer product engineer managers across all capabilities to prioritize initiatives, identify trade-offs, and coordinate technical product development and delivery
- Collaborate across functions (e.g., Market partners, Digital Customer Engagement, Release Team, IT, Operations, and Program Managers) to ensure the timely delivery of products
- Provide support to McDonald's continued evolution of its engineering capabilities, e.g., simplifying omnichannel development
- Work closely with market/segment tech teams to understand user feedback
Qualifications
Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
- 2-3 years of Product Management experience
- Experience translating customer needs into product features.
- Must be passionate about technology and outspoken about the best ways to engineer products that customers love to use.
- Strong analysis skills; proven ability to work with and influence engineering team.
- Experience translating customer and business needs into a digital product feature backlog.
- Uncompromising attention to detail.
- Experience translating customer and business needs for scalability, quality, and maintainability into a technical product roadmap.
- Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing indirect reports to achieve organizational goals
- Experience leading multiple complex initiatives, cross-functional projects in parallel.
- Curious, task-oriented, and a self-starter with a proven track record of "getting things done."
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Content Management Systems and content framework
- Experience with frameworks to support global content and management process variations
- Product Management experience on customer-facing products leading agile development teams.
- Technical background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology field.
