TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, HISTOLOGY, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Histology Core Facility, to provide technical support for wide-ranging approaches being taken in cancer research and across the MIT research community. The work will involve routine and nontraditional histological techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, cryotomy, special and IHC stains of animal tissue, as well as both automated and manual staining methods. Duties include troubleshooting both instrumentation and protocols and training others to perform specific tasks. Will work in a team-oriented environment in conjunction with facility staff.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least two years of experience as a histology technician; HT-ASCP or HTL-ASCP certification or certification-eligibility; a background in immunohistochemistry; basic computer skills; excellent organizational, technical, interpersonal, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities; meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work; practiced documentation skills; awareness of basic safety issues and the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment; and the flexibility necessary to work independently and provide technical guidance to students and postdoctoral fellows.
