Job Description

Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Director
Guild is looking for a Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Director to join our accounting team and be a part of the rapid growth of this multi-sided education company. This person will report to the Director, Accounting and provide leadership and technical mentorship of accounting policy development and financial reporting. As the subject matter expert, you will own all research, documentation, and implementation of FASB pronouncements. You should be able to operate strategically and with a sense of urgency, employing a hands-on operational approach with clear and timely communication to all levels of the organization.
This is a remote role, which can sit in any of the following 25 states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NJ, NY, OR, PA, TN, TX, SC, VA, WA, and WI. Option to work in the Denver or San Francisco office. Please only apply if you are able to live and work full-time in one of the states listed above. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of accounting research, drafting accounting policies and memos, providing technical support to members of the Finance team and helping with M&A diligence.
  • Provide interpretation of regulatory and GAAP rules and the impact on the business.
  • Analyze and account for complex revenue agreements and technical accounting issues, such as business combinations, equity repurchases, stock based compensation, etc.
  • Connect with Senior Leadership and external auditors on technical accounting, reporting and accounting policies while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Be responsible for the work of external advisory firms, including facilitating meetings, providing information inputs, reviewing results and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements for three entities.
  • Develop and maintain ASC 606 revenue policies, review all contracts and provide advice on commercial and revenue terms.
  • Lead projects related to financial systems and business process transformation and upgrades.
  • Be a change agent for implementing new insights, internal controls and process improvements in an increasingly complex environment.
  • Mentor, lead and develop accounting team members.

You are a good fit for this role if you:

  • Strong understanding and extensive hands-on experience in practical application of revenue accounting under ASC 606 and equity accounting.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with a diverse group of partners, including technical and operational, business-minded leaders.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact with all organization levels and team members in multiple locations. and time zones.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Excel and data mining skills.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of accounting experience
  • At least 4 years of public accounting at a Big 4 firm
  • CPA required

Total compensation for this role is market driven, including a base salary range of XX, as well as company stock options.
