The Tech Instructor (TI) for Road to Hire will support one or more of the Road to Hire programs including the R2H Coding Fellowship and/or R2H Pathways. The TI should be motivated by the opportunity to develop and create opportunities for unemployed and underemployed young adults in our community.
The TI will assist in building and teaching the curriculum designed to educate young adults on computer science and coding skills. To date, the curriculum covers core tech competencies; such as, data structures and algorithms, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and other modern web programming technologies.
The TI will also manage classroom logistics; such as, managing attendance, grading, preparing the weekly schedule, coordinating the volunteer activities, overseeing the development of participants in the program, etc.
What You'll Do:
- Teach the curriculum and coordinate the logistics of class.
- Advise and mentor students
- Lead continued education sessions.
- Grade and track students' performance.
- Manage students' attendance.
- Assess instructional effectiveness and conduct training impact evaluations; update curriculum based on need.
- Open to constructive criticism and constant curriculum improvement.
What We're Looking For:
- Passionate about creating employment opportunities for underserved young adults.
- Strong knowledge of Front-end and Back-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, SQL)
- Exceptional communication skills and authority with MS Office.
- Strong relationship-building skills; ability to quickly build trust with a wide variety of different stakeholders.
- Strong team player mentality
- Comfortable working autonomously.
- Has an aptitude for making real-time decisions, measuring results and changing course when necessary.
- Strong alignment with Road to Hire's core beliefs and educational philosophy.
