The Team Leader (TL) for the OR Service Line in Surgery has responsibilities for a dynamic functional area of patient services and must collaborate with others to achieve strategic objectives and unit-based goals. The TL is responsible for providing overall coordination, direction, and strategic planning, for the OR Service Line. The TL works closely with all surgeons and surgical staff to develop processes to meet the Instrument and Inventory needs of the physicians and surgical staff to ensure safe and quality delivery of care to our patient customers while in the surgical environment. The TL also works closely with the Medical, Anesthesia, and Surgery Directors to establish the systems and structures needed to support the delivery of quality patient care. This position reports to the Nurse Manager of Surgery and works collaboratively with other members of the Surgical Services Management Team, Nursing Administration, Anesthesia Providers, Surgeons, Hospital Administration, and PHP- System Administration.
Essential Duties & Functions:
Ensure procedures are appropriately scheduled
Review reservation forms for specialty items
Confirm service line sales representatives attend procedures
Service line preference card management
Assist with breaks/lunches
Ensure regulatory requirements are upheld
Collaborate with OR educator, SPD manager, and others when new items are added to service line
Education Required: Associate degree
Additional requirements:
Type of degree: Graduation from an accredited school of health science or allied health
Area of study or major: Surgical Technology
Preferred educational qualifications: Certification in area of study
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current BLS is required.
Must be Certified as a Surgical Technologist under the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist by graduating from a CAAHEP and passing a national certification examination (CST); or certification under the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or certification under the Armed Forces (military) Program.
Must be Certified as a First Assistant
Experience Required: 3 - 5 years of job related experience
Prior job title or occupational experience: Previous OR experience
Other experience requirements: Excellent leadership and decision-making skills, excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge/Skills:
Proven problem-solving abilities
Proven clinical competence in area of practice
