About the Early Learning Center
Meeting Street's Early Learning Center stands out among childcare providers for all of the right reasons. Ranked among the highest in the state, we are licensed by the state of Rhode Island and accredited by Bright Stars and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We currently have nearly 90 children enrolled between the ages of six weeks and five years old, offering separate classrooms for Infants, Toddlers, "Waddlers", Preschool and Pre-K. Our inclusive classrooms are designed so that all children can participate and benefit from additional services. We provide individualized learning, adapting each lesson plan to suit the needs of each of our learners. Our approach plants the seeds of both learning and compassion in those critical early years.
In this role, you will:

  • Provide support to the Teacher in carrying out daily activities, supervision, hygiene, classroom cleanliness, feeding, personal care, implementing curriculum and assessment of children in the toddler classroom
  • Provide individual and group support to children with and without IEP needs, making adjustments and accommodations so that all children can learn and grow in a truly inclusive environment
  • Facilitate interactions to create opportunities for social/emotional growth, and opportunities to develop individual age-appropriate self-help skills
  • Implement age-appropriate classroom behavior management by demonstrating positive guidance, giving sensory breaks and input along with redirection, and modeling conflict resolution
  • Communicate with families daily regarding their child’s activities and progress verbally at drop-off and pick-up, throughout the day using the Brightwheel app, and by zoom, email and phone to enhance the parent/school partnership

Scheduled Hours: This is a full-time benefit eligible position.

  • You are knowledgeable of early childhood development and milestones
  • You communicate effectively with children at their level by getting to know their individual personalities and adjusting your approach accordingly
  • You gain rapport and trust with families through strong communication
  • You are organized and able to follow curriculum timelines
  • You follow all required rules and regulations and realize the importance of doing so
  • You are patient and flexible in how you support students and the classroom teacher
  • You exercise good judgement in response to ambiguous or unpredictable situations

About You:

  • You believe in the power of inclusion, and that these environments allow learners of all abilities to thrive and develop to their fullest potential
  • You are open and eager to learn and try new things, and are accepting of feedback from peers, teachers, therapists, managers, and the student’s family
  • You are understanding of the risks created by the pandemic when teaching in-person. You understand that cleanliness and hygiene is a top focus, and you are also realistic about the challenges to implement guidelines in a classroom with young children
  • You are enthusiastic about creating a classroom environment that celebrates the cultures, backgrounds, family dynamics, needs and experiences of all children

What You Need:

  • 12+ College credits earned in Early Childhood Curriculum from an accredited University, or Associates Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field
